Practice  5:00 - 8:00
All cars in all divisions may practice, including Late Model & Open wheel.  No go-carts or naskarts.

 

CRA Street Stocks Gibo Chew Memorial 75 Contingency and Cash Awards Announced

Salem, IN (June 15, 2009) – Champion Racing Association Officials have announced the Contingency and Cash Awards from this past Saturday’s CRA Street Stocks Gibo Chew Memorial 75 event at Mt. Lawn Speedway. In order to receive the awards, the car owner and driver must be licensed series members and properly display each sponsors stickers on both sides of their racecar. Gibo Chew Memorial 75

Thompson Rules at Mt. Lawn

New Castle, IN (June 13, 2009) - Jason Thompson came back to Mt. Lawn Speedway for the second CRA Street Stock race at the famed speedway for the Gibo Chew Memorial 75 Saturday night. He started on the outside of the front row, took the lead on the second lap and was never seriously challenged as he dominated the race.  A native of nearby Shirley, IN Thompson showed the way around his home track, with the racing for second through fifth tight.  Knightstown’s Jeff Lane finished second, Chuck Cook, New Castle, third, Joe Beaver fourth and Lewisville’s Calvin Parham fifth. 

 

"It helped starting up front, but the car was great, it was really good for the race."  Thompson commented.  "I need to say thank you to my Dad, brothers, TCI, Dave Pigg, and the crowd that came out tonight.  This is my home track and I love coming back for a race."  Click Here.

Hopkins Wins Dash, Matillo, Boyer, Thompson Win Heats

Brian Hopkins beat a tough group of drivers to win the Razzles Dash for the CRA Street Stocks.  Larry Matillo took the first heat, with Rich Boyer winning the second and Jason Thompson the third.

Joe Beaver Sets New Track Record

Joe Beaver set a new track record for the CRA Street Stocks at Mt. Lawn Speedway with a time of 17.417, Jeff Lane was second at 17.533, Brian Hopkins third, Bret Miles, Jr. fourth and Calvin Parham fifth.  Eight drivers broke the old track record set by Jeff Lane in 2006.

Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts Vs. Mt. Lawn Hornets Challenge

Tim Dilg was the fastest Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compact in qualifying and moved through the field quickly to take the lead on the 15th lap, and held on to win the Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts Vs. Mt. Lawn Hornets Challenge. Jeff Holiday took the early lead and stayed there until the 10th lap when Freddie Marlow passed him for the lead.  Marlow could not hold off Dilg for long with Dilg making his way around Marlow for the final pass for the lead.  Brian Lewis took second, Justin Brown third, Kevin Claborn fourth and Freddie Marlow fifth.

 

With the win Dilg took the highest finishing CRA regular Clay Abrell/Tim Brown Memorial  Award.  Justin Brown finished third to take the second place award and with his sixth place finish Rex Zimmerman took the third place award.

Gibo Chew Memorial 75 at Mt. Lawn Speedway up next for CRA Street Stocks

 

Salem, IN (June 7, 2009) – The Gibo Chew Memorial 75 will be the next event for the CRA Street Stocks this coming Saturday night at Mt. Lawn Speedway, located just outside New Castle, Indiana. The event is dedicated to the memory of local racing legend Gibo Chew, the father of current CRA officials Gib, Jeff and Eddie Chew who touched the lives of numerous racers who competed over the years at Mt. Mt. Lawn Open Practice Announced

 

Mt. Lawn Speedway officials announced an open practice on Thursday, June 11 from 3pm to dark in preparation for the Gibo Chew Memorial 75 on Saturday, June 13.  Pit passes will cost $10. This race will be the second trip to Mt. Lawn for the CRA Street Stocks, with Joe Beaver the winner of the previous event in 2006. 

CRA Street Stocks Mt. Lawn Event Named for Local Racing Legend

Salem, IN (June 3, 2009) – CRA Officials today announced the CRA Street Stock event at Mt. Lawn Speedway on June 13 will be a $1000 to win race and named The Gibo Chew Memorial 75 after a local racing legend. Chew owned or maintained cars at Mt. Lawn Speedway for almost 40 years. His generous spirit and sense of competition are well known in east central Indiana. The race will be presented by a number of local businesses and racers including: CP Racing Engines, McGunegill Engine Performance, Marcum's Welding, US Auto Group, Claborn Auto Sales, Zipper's Bar, Payne Auto Parts, Carl Smith, Tom True Auto Sales, Hopkins Towing, Knepley's Competition Graphics, and The Knightstown Banner.  Click Here.

May 30th CRA Street Stock Event Rescheduled for August 8th at Anderson Speedway

Salem, IN (May 31, 2009) – Champion Racing Association and Anderson Speedway have announced that the CRA Street Stock event that was originally scheduled on Saturday, May 30th has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 8th. Severe weather moved through the Anderson Speedway area Saturday night forcing the cancellation of the CRA Street Stock event.  Click Here.

 

CRA Street Stocks at Anderson Speedway Saturday Night

 

Salem, IN (May 28, 2009) – The CRA Street Stocks will be back in action this Saturday night for the first of three shows this season at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana. Saturday’s show will be a 75 lap event pitting the best of the series against the top Anderson Speedway Street Stock drivers. This event will be a warm-up for the big Street Stock 300 event that was announced earlier this month for the CRA Street Stocks and Anderson Street Stocks on Saturday, June 27th. Wood Captures First CRA Street Stock Victory

 

Salem, IN (May 27, 2009) – Winston Wood started on the inside of the second row of the CRA Street Stock 50 lap race at Baer Field and hung on to win a close race over Jason Thompson. Wood chased Danny Acrey II from the first lap until he was able to drive past Acrey on the 22 lap.  He also pulled a few cars with him, cars that chased him until the end.  Thompson could get beside Wood, but could not get around him with Wood hanging on just ahead of Thompson to the end. Joe Beaver finished third, Bret Miles, Jr. fourth, and Tom Little fifth.

CRA’s Memorial Day 200 this Monday at Baer Field Speedway

 

See 200 Laps of Featuring Racing for Only $10

 

Salem, IN (May 21, 2009) – Champion Racing Association will present the CRA Memorial Day 200 this Monday, May 25th at Baer Field Speedway located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. This CRA promoted event will feature exciting racing action from the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series, the CRA Street Stocks and the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts along with the Midwest Mini Stock Challenge. Each division will have heat races and a 50 lap feature. That’s 200 laps of feature racing action for only $10 for an adult ticket, $5 for children 6 to 12 years old, children 5 and under are free!  Click Here.

 

Just a Reminder to all CRA Street Stock teams

 

TCI Automotive will payout a $100 bonus to any team winning a CRA Street Stock event in 2009 using a TCI Torque Converter or TCI Transmission or valve body for the transmission. TCI Automotive will payout a $50 bonus to any team finishing second in a CRA Street Stock event in 2009 using a TCI Torque Converter or TCI Transmission. If the winner and second place finishers do not qualify, then the next highest finishers using the TCI Automotive specified products would receive the bonuses. Teams will have to submit a TCI Automotive Contingency Form to TCI in order to be eligible for the cash awards which will be paid by TCI after each event. Contact the CRA office at 812-883-0455 if you need a TCI Automotive Contingency Form.

Josh Burton Wins MAX Rocks 40

 

Joshua Burton kicked off the CRA Street Stocks 2009 season with a victory on Sunday in the MAX Rocks 40. Burton worked past early leader Brian Hopkins to take the lead on lap 12. Burton then had to hold off Hopkins on several restarts, once almost crashing after contact with the outside wall on one restart.

"I really did not expect to win," remarked a smiling Burton in victory lane.  "I was just hoping to get a top 5 finish, but here we are. We are taking care of two teams this year, and it has been a struggle, but this was fun." Click Here.

Impact Racing Continues To Support CRA For 2009

Salem, IN (April 9, 2009) – Impact Racing, the Motorsports safety equipment company started by Bill Simpson, has agreed to continue its support of the CRA Super Series, Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and CRA Street Stocks for the 2009 season. CRA Announces Updates to Schedules of Three Divisions

 

Salem, IN (March 12, 2009) – Baer Field Speedway announced earlier this week that the Champion Racing Association (CRA) slate of races scheduled for Saturday September 26 has been moved to Sunday August 23.  The original dates had been marked as tentative, while Speedway officials worked on a major "non-racing", full facility event put on by Brooks Construction.  With the Brooks Construction event finalized, track and series officials worked together to move the racing events to the new Sunday date in August.  There will not be any stock car racing on the Saturday night before the new date.  Click Here.

 

Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing To Sponsor CRA Street Stocks Feature Winner Award

 

Salem, IN (February 26, 2009) – Champion Racing Association Officials have announced that Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing, a division of Crumrine Gold & Silversmiths, will be the sponsor of a unique award for all feature winners with the CRA Street Stocks during the 2009 season.
