Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series ProFab 75 Contingency
Awards
Salem, IN (June
22, 2009) –
Champion Racing Association Officials have announced the
Contingency Awards from this past Saturday’s ProFab 75
Presented By Ashley Transport for the Howe CRA Late Model
Sportsman Series at Angola Motor Speedway. In order to
receive the awards, the car owner and driver must be
licensed series members and properly display each sponsors
stickers on both sides of their racecar. The $860 in awards
listed for each driver is in addition to the events purse
payout.

After
an
accident
on the
first
lap of
the
Howe
CRA
Late
Model
Sportsman
Pro
Fab
75
presented
by
Ashley
Transport
at
Angola
Motor
Speedway
Saturday
forced
several
of the
fastest
cars
on the
track
to the
pits
for
repairs,
Kale
Asztalos
took
the
lead
and
held
it for
46
laps.
But as
the
race
wore
on
Steve
Minich,
Jr.,
Tony
Dager,
Lou
Stremme
and
Billy
Hutson
worked
their
way
through
traffic
and
caught
Asztalos,
with
Minich
getting
by on
the
46th
lap
pulling
Dager
and
Stremme
with
him.
Dager
never
let
Minich
get
comfortable
and
tried
several
times
to get
past
him.
Minich
managed
to
hold
to
win,
with
Dager
in
second,
Hutson
third,
Stremme
fourth
and
Rick
Rinehart
fifth.

"Those
first
couple
of
laps,
I
didn't
know
if I
was
going
to
make
it
through
there.
It was
kind
of
crazy,
but I
made
it."
Minich
stated.
"It
was
fun to
race
with
Lou
(Stremme),
I have
not
had
too
many
chances
to
race
with
him.
I have
raced
with
Tony
(Dager)
quite
a bit
of
course,
and
they
are
fun to
race
with.
It was
a fun
race."

Minich,
Barcus and Hanna Win Heat Races
Steve
Minich, Jr. took the first heat leading nine laps and holding off
first Lou Stremme then Billy Hutson to get the win in the first heat.
Eric Barcus started on the pole and never gave up the lead to win the
second heat with Mark Parker finishing second. The third heat
saw several instances of three wide racing, with Charlie Hanna taking
the lead on the second lap and taking the win after a red flag for the
Jim Geiger driven car left the raceway in the third turn and went for
a ride out through the grass. Rookie of the Year contender Brian
McFadden finished second.

Fast Qualifier
Rick
Rinehart was the next to the last qualifier and turned the fastest lap
of the day at 15.411 seconds to take the Fast Qualifier for the ProFab
75 presented by Ashley Transport. Ken Wilson was second, Billy
Hutson third, Tony Dager fourth, Steve Minich, Jr. fifth.

then drew a 12 to put Adam Hutson on the pole.

Tony Dager
set fast time for the second practice session, and fastest for the day
so far with a time of 15.508 seconds. Charlie Hanna was second,
Keith Sterkowitz third, Steve Minich, Jr fourth and Lou Stremme fifth.

Stremme Fastest in First Practice
Lou Stremme
was the fastest of the 23 Howe CRA Sportsman drivers in the first
practice session for the ProFab 75 presented by Ashley Transport with
a time of 15.724 seconds. Keith Sterkowitz was second, Steve
Minich, Jr. third, Tony Dager fourth and Adam Hudson fifth.

Economy Auto Parts 75
Alsip Holds Off Hanna to get CRA Win at
Plymouth Speedway
Plymouth, IN (May 31, 2009) – Justin Alsip took advantage of his
outside pole starting position to grab the early lead from pole sitter
Charlie Hanna at the drop of the green flag for the Economy Auto Parts 75,
Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series event Saturday night at Plymouth
Speedway. Alsip was able to hold off the persistent Hanna to get the win,
his first CRA win of the 2009 season.
"This one the crew won!" Alsip said. "They had the transmission in
and out of this car three times today. Mark Lambert had a throw out
bearing and let us have it so we could race tonight. But thanks to
the crew we got out there and with only four laps of practice and made it

Shewchuk Races Into Feature with Last Chance Race Win
Asztalos and Gunkel Win Heat Races
Mike Shewchuk took off from the pole position to win
lead flag to flag and win the Last Chance race to start the feature, Ron
Belt finished second to earn his starting spot. Brian McFadden and Bill
Lovely moved to the feature from Howe CRA Late Model points and Kevin
Clash and Steven Woods moved from their Plymouth Sportsman points.
Due to mechanical problems Rick Rinehart could not start the feature so
Danny Brown took the last starting spot.

New Track Record
Keith Sterkowitz took his fast practice and ran fast in qualifying for
the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman, Plymouth 75 by setting a new track
record of 14.087 set one year ago by Tony Dager. Second was
Bob Blount, Steve Stacy third, Derrick Griffin fourth and Lou Stremme
fifth.

Keith Sterkowitz was fastest in practice for the Plymouth 75, with Derrick Griffin second
quick, John Marshall third. 31 cars have been on the track, with 33 in the pits to attempt to make the field.
