Vogler Classic
Neal and Charles get
CRA Victories
Winchester, IN (July 3, 2009)
– In front of a great crowd, New Castle, Indiana native Tracy Hines
came away with a victory in the Rich Vogler Classic for the USAC
Nation Sprint Cars on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway
Thursday night. The Thursday Night Thunder Show kicked off the Holiday
weekend with a great race that ad the fans on there feet!
"It’s really great to win this event
at this great track," remarked Hines. "Rich was one of my hero’s
growing up, he was a great racer and a great set up guy who really new
how to get around these tracks. Cole drove me clean and I was able to
use the high side and get around him."
Shane Hmeil took the early lead at
the drop of the green flag, but that only lasted two laps before Cole
Witt in the Keith Kuntz Motorsports car got by and took the lead on
the 3rd lap. Witt looked like he had the field covered as a
tough battle was happening behind him for second, third and fourth.
Hines, in his Tony Stewart Racing, entry worked his way into second
place when a caution flew for a spin by Hmeil coming out of turn four.
On the restart Hines was right on Witt’s tail, Hines then powered by
on the high side through turns three and four to grab the lead on lap
37 going on to get the victory.
Witt would hold on to second with
Bobby East in third, last years Vogler winner Darren Hagen in fourth
and Jacob Wilson in fifth. Hines was the events Fast Qualifier at
14.044 seconds, just two hundredths off the track record. Dave Darland
and Wilson were winners of the eight lap heat races.

In CRA action Scott Neal got the win
in the 15 lap CRA Street Stock feature over Chad Poorman, A.J. Ridner
and Randy Hoppes. Neal was the events Fast Qualifier and won the six
lap heat race.
"Every time you race at Winchester
you are racing the track," remarked Neal. "I have seen people
have trouble here all by themselves and I have done it due to
mechanical problems myself. I wish there were more cars here, but it
was fun, and I just could not get away from the 777 car, he was right
there the whole race."
The Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD
Compacts put on another great show with Bill Charles coming from his
ninth place starting position to get the win after a great battle with
Brain Redmond who came from 10th place to finish second.
Jordan Flynn finished in third, Steve Vore in fourth and early leader
Troy Frazier in fifth place. Charles was the events Fast Qualifier.
Charles and Jeff Vore were winners of the eight lap heat races.

"It is always great to win," remarked
Charles. "I have to thank my sponsors Main Auto Parts, Select
Signs, and Brock Air Products, they allow me to come out and race.
This group of guys is so competitive, we have some great racers, and
great races and thanks to the fans that come out to watch."
Racing action will return to the High
Banks of Winchester Speedway on Sunday, July 19th with
