Concord, NC (November 7, 2009) - Jeff Fultz, who lost his 21 year old son Johnny in a tragic car accident earlier this week, took the lead on lap 53 and never looked back as he took a very emotional win in the North/South Shootout 125 presented by WearCrete Diamond Concrete Polishing at Concord Speedway on Saturday night. The event was part of the huge North/South Shootout Weekend at Concord Speedway, the event was the first ever CRA Super Series sanctioned event held in North Carolina.

"This is a very emotional win for me."  Fultz stated.  "We came here as a team with the #66 car of John Hickens, and Cassius Clark, two of us qualified in the Top 5, Cassius set fast time and then finished third.  They gave me a great car and I am so thankful for all the support this weekend."

Fultz’s win was his third with the CRA Super Series and second of the 2009 season. His car owner Curtis Venable is also the owner of race sponsor WearCrete Diamond Concrete Polishing. Fultz will fly to Cincinnati, Ohio on Sunday for his son’s funeral on Monday.

Jeff Choquette took the early lead from the outside of the front row, but could not hold off fast qualifier Clark who grabbed the lead on the fifth lap and held it until he pitted on lap 46 with most of the field.  Local competitor Bobby Measmer, Jr. assumed the lead on the restart after not pitting with the rest of the field, Cooper Faassin took over on lap 50 when Measmer pitted but was chased down by Fultz who grabbed the lead for good on lap 53.  2009 CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn raced from his seventh starting spot to finish second in his first ever start at the challenging half mile. VanDoorn was chasing down Fultz, but just ran out of laps.

"We had a good car, we talked to some people who had raced at Concord so we had a pretty good setup when we got there and adjusted to the track, that we had never been to, and got the car dialed in pretty good. The crew did a great job getting the car ready." VanDoorn stated. "I just wish the race had been 5-10 laps longer and I think we would have had something for Fultz if we had gotten behind him a little sooner. This track is challenging, it is a finesse track, its looks are deceiving, it looks like you can attack it, but you have to drive with finesse and I had to adjust my style to go fast here. If we can find sponsors we hope to go to the Snowball Derby in a few weeks and then work on getting ready to defend my title next year."

Measmer, Jr. received the Racing Electronics Most Improved Positions Award after starting 24th and finishing seventh.
