CRA’s Memorial Day 200 this Monday at Baer Field Speedway

See 200 Laps of Featuring Racing for Only $10

Salem, IN (May 21, 2009) – Champion Racing Association will present the CRA Memorial Day 200 this Monday, May 25th at Baer Field Speedway located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. This CRA promoted event will feature exciting racing action from the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series, the CRA Street Stocks and the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts along with the Midwest Mini Stock Challenge. Each division will have heat races and a 50 lap feature. That’s 200 laps of feature racing action for only $10 for an adult ticket, $5 for children 6 to 12 years old, children 5 and under are free!

Monday’s event will be the second show of the season for all three CRA divisions competing. The Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series started their 2009 season on April 17th at Anderson Speedway were Charlie Hanna led wire to wire to pick up his first series win since the 2007 season. Hanna comes into the event as the series points leader after his win, but by only two points over Keith Sterkowitz, who was the Fast Qualifier for the Anderson event and came from two laps down to finish sixth. Rookie Steve Stacy is third in series points after finishing second to Hanna at Anderson. Ric Pfiefer is tied for fourth in points, after getting his best ever series finish of third at Anderson, with Adam Hudson.

All the top Late Model Sportsman Series drivers are expected including 2008 series Champion Tony Dager who claimed three series victories at Baer Field Speedway last season and will be looking to make up some ground in the points after finishing 19th in the season open after parking his car with overheating problems. Steve Minich Jr. is expected to compete, he is currently sixth in series points and had two series victories at Baer Field Speedway last season. Veteran Northern Indiana racer Bobby Blount will also compete in Monday’s event along with several Baer Field Speedway Late Model regulars.

The CRA Street Stocks and CRA FWD Compacts both kicked off their 2009 seasons last Sunday at Winchester Speedway were Josh Burton got the Street Stock win and Tim Dilg the FWD Compact win. Those drivers will lead a strong group of competitors expected for both those divisions on Monday. Burton goes into Monday’s event with a one point lead over Brian Hopkins in second, Jason Thompson is third with Larry Matillo in fourth and Bret Miles Jr. in fifth. Dilg holds a four point lead over Jordan Flynn in second with Jess Drook in third, 2008 series Champion Rex Zimmerman in fourth and teammate Bill Charles in fifth.

The Midwest Mini Stock Challenge will feature the top Mini Stock drivers from all over the area, all competing on the 3/8’s mile track at Baer Field Speedway on Monday in a 50 lap feature that will pay $500 to win.

Pit gates and spectator gates will open on Monday at 10am. Practice begins at 11am with qualifying at 12:45pm. The race program will begin at 2pm. More information on the CRA Memorial Day 200 is available at www.baerfieldspeedway.net and here.
