Gibo Chew Memorial 75 at Mt. Lawn Speedway up next for CRA Street
Stocks
Salem, IN (June 7, 2009) – The Gibo Chew Memorial 75 will be
the next event for the CRA Street Stocks this coming Saturday night at
Mt. Lawn Speedway, located just outside New Castle, Indiana. The event
is dedicated to the memory of local racing legend Gibo Chew, the
father of current CRA officials Gib, Jeff and Eddie Chew who touched
the lives of numerous racers who competed over the years at Mt. Lawn
Speedway.
Saturday’s event
will
be the third event of the 2009 season for the CRA Street Stocks after
the May 30th event at Anderson Speedway was postponed until
August 8th because of severe weather. Winston Wood claimed
his first ever series victory in the series last event on Memorial Day
at Baer Field Speedway in an exciting battle with Jason Thompson.
Thompson would finish in second with Joe Beaver in third, Bret Miles
Jr. in fourth and Tom Little in fifth place. Josh Burton got the win
in the series season opener on May 17th at Winchester
Speedway.

the series points lead, with Wood only three points back in third
place. Brian Hopkins is in fourth only six points out of first with
Josh Burton in fifth place only seven points out of first. Two time
series Champion Joe Beaver is in sixth place, only nine points out of
first.
Saturday’s event will be the CRA Street Stocks second ever event at
the tricky 3/10’s mile track. The first event was a 100 lap event on
May 29th, 2006 were Joe Beaver came away with the victory.
CRA Super Series veteran Jeff Lane came in second driving for New
Castle car owner Steve Davis. New Castle native Brian Hopkins finished
in third, Eric Evans in fourth and Mike Riddle Jr. in fifth. That
event had 34 starters.
This Saturday’s event is expected to draw the best drivers with the
CRA Street Stocks and some outside talent as well. Lane will make a
return visit to the Street Stocks driving again for Davis. Mt. Lawn
Speedway’s Eric Evans will also jump back in to a Street Stock for the
event, Evans is a regular in the Mt. Lawn Late Model division and a
