Salem, IN (June 15, 2009) – The Howe CRA Late Model
Sportsman Series will return to action this Saturday in the ProFab 75
Presented by Ingledue Construction at Angola Motor Speedway. Saturday
night will be ProFab "Pack the House Night" Presented by Ingledue
Construction at Angola Motor Speedway with buy one get one free adult
general admission tickets.
Saturday’s race will be the second ever Howe CRA Late Model
Sportsman Series event at
Angola
Motor Speedway. Ft. Wayne’s Chad Richardson got the victory in last
season’s event holding off John Marshall who finished in second. Nick
Lay finished in third, Eric Barkus in fourth and Al Cook Jr., in
fifth. Barkus was the events Fast Qualifier of the 30 cars on hand.
All 30 cars started the feature event.
Steve Minich Jr. comes into this weekend’s event with a slim
one-point lead over Charlie Hanna in series Championship points. Hanna
won the series season opening event at Anderson Speedway while Minich
Jr. picked up the win in the series Baer Field Speedway event on May
25th. Justin Alsip won the series last event at Plymouth
Speedway on May 30th. 2006 series Champion Keith Sterkowitz
is in third place in series points, he is 14 points behind Hanna.
Rookie Steve Stacy is fourth in series points, only one point behind
Sterkowitz. Mark Lambert is currently fifth in series points, he is 27
points behind Stacy. Jake Owens is sixth, Ric Pfiefer is seventh,
Alsip is eighth, Billy Hutson is ninth and Joe Beaver is tenth place.
All the top ten in points are expected to race in Saturday nights
event along with 2008 series Champion Tony Dager, who had engine
problems in
the
first two series events this season and missed the Plymouth event.
Rick Rinehart will also be there, Rinehart finished second in last
years points without a DNF, but had transmission problems the last two
events resulting in a DNF at Baer Field and he could not start the
Plymouth event. Other local racers expected to race in Saturday
night’s event include Eric Barcus, Kale Asztalos, Jeremy Wallen and
Ken Wilson.
Pit gates will open on Saturday at 1pm. Practice will begin at 3pm
with qualifying at 5pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will
include the ProFab 75 Presented by Ingledue Construction for the Howe
CRA Late Model Sportsman Series. Also racing that night will be the
MCR Dwarf Cars, Wolverine Midgets, Johnny on the Spot Street
Stocks, Smith Enterprise Mini Stocks and the Everage Auto FWD cars.
