Hoosier 200 Up Next For Howe CRA Sportsman Series

Salem, IN (September 4, 2008) – The Hoosier 200 Presented By NAPA Auto Parts Stores will be the next event for the Howe CRA Sportsman Series this Saturday at Baer Field Speedway. That event will consist of a 100 lap feature event for the Howe CRA Sportsman Series that will pay $2000 to the winner, and a 100 lap Modified event that will also pay $2000 to the winner. The event use to be a tradition at Baer Field Speedway, the event is expected to draw Sportsman and Modified cars from all over Northern Indiana.

"We are really excited to bring back this event to Baer Field Speedway," remarked Ish. "Having both the Howe CRA Sportsman Series and the Modifieds each run 100 lap events will provide the fans and competitors with two great feature events in one exciting race program.

The event will be race number 14 of the 16 events on the 2008 CRA Sportsman schedule. It will be the final event at Baer Field Speedway and the final for the Baer Field Speedway Mini-Series points. Tony Dager comes in as the leader in series overall Championship points and the leader of the series Baer Field Speedway Mini-Series points. Dager has a 34 point lead over Rick Rinehart in the series adjusted Championship points, in which each competitor gets to drop their worse to point events of the season. Dager has a 38-point lead over the #501 car, owned by Tony Barcus and driven this season by Barcus and Al Cook Jr., in the Baer Field Speedway Mini-Series points.

Justin Alsip, winner of the series last event at Winchester Speedway this past Monday, is third in series adjusted Championship points followed by Charlie Hanna in fourth and Eric Barcus in fifth. In Baer Field Speedway Mini-Series points Rinehart is in third with Hanna fourth and Eric Barcus in fifth.

Steve Minich Jr. has won the last two series events at Baer Field Speedway, holding off Dager on August 8th and Al Cook Jr. to get the victory on August 16th. Dager has three wins at Baer Field Speedway this year, one of those came in Minich Jr.’s car on July 5th after he wrecked his primary car at Angola on July 3rd and was offered the car by Minich Jr. for that event.

Pits will open this Saturday at Baer Field Speedway at 2pm, practice will begin at 3pm, qualifying at 5:30pm. The race program will begin at 7:30pm and will include the 100 lap feature with the Hoosier 200 Presented By NAPA Auto Parts Stores for the Howe CRA Sportsman Series.
